Monk One used to be Japanese as a child, but got bored of that and became American instead. He moved to New York, where he built a successful business constructing kites entirely out of organic root vegetables: I'm Veg, Fly Me. He discovered music while spot welding turnips for a new range, and was instantly hooked. After early attempts at building record decks out of organic root vegetables failed, he swtiched to DJing, a career he has concentrated on ever since. On his weekly radio show on WBAI in New York Monk plays everything from rock breaks to hip hop and deep house. His mix CD Monk's Dream was a cult favourite.
