Martin Red was born yellow, thanks to incipient jaundice. As a child he would occasionally get depressed and thus blue. His temper would get the better of him, his face turned pink, then purple, then, finally, red. Green with envy at his friends' record collections he began to buy black records made by white people and black people. Now his musical world is a kaleidoscope of colours from puce to jade.
